FAQs

What are hair extensions?

They are strands of natural hair attached to your own hair to give it more length, more volume or both. At Nais Hair we have five methods: tape-in, 4K invisible tape-in, keratin, sewn-in weft and clip-in. They can be curled, cut and styled just like your own hair.

Which method should I choose?

  • Fine hair: 4K invisible tape-in. The tape is ultra-thin and almost transparent: the most discreet option when you have little hair.
  • Medium hair: tape-in. Our best sellers: a flat, discreet tape that your hairdresser applies in one session.
  • Thick hair: keratin. Strand by strand, they are spread all over the head and give very natural movement.
  • To put them in and take them out yourself: clip-in. You put them in and take them out in minutes, without going to the salon.

If you have doubts, message us on WhatsApp and we will help you choose.

Will it be noticeable that I am wearing them?

No one will notice. Choosing the right colour is very important. With the right application, only you will know you are wearing them.

Can I put them in myself?

Clip-ins, yes: you put them in and take them out in minutes. For tape-in, keratin and sewn-in extensions we recommend having them applied by a professional. Some salons sell you the extensions as well as applying them, but if you buy them yourself they can work out cheaper.

How long do extensions last?

PREMIUM extensions (tape-in, 4K tape-in and keratin) last 12 to 24 months depending on the colour and the care. LOW COST ones (sewn-in weft and clip-in), 6 to 12 months. Virgin hair, 1 to 3 years.

All extensions are processed before they are sold, so they do not receive the natural oils from your roots and dry out over time. That is why it is so important to buy good-quality hair, use the right products and look after it.

Will extensions damage my own hair?

No, if they are looked after and given the necessary maintenance. Be careful when brushing: if there is a tangle, hold your hair while you brush it, especially if your hair is fragile. Touch up your extensions at least every two months.

What makes hair good quality?

The most important thing is how the hair is selected and how it is treated afterwards. The best is virgin hair, hair that has not been treated: healthy, strong and of the highest quality.

Remy hair with cuticle is collected strand by strand so that all the cuticles face the same direction. That is why it is soft to the touch, lasts longer and does not tangle. Hair that is not Remy is waste hair, collected from salons and matched afterwards: its cuticles face different directions and it tangles.

You can see how we select and check every batch at our factory.

How do I know if extensions are made of Remy hair?

If the hair has small black balls at the ends, you can be sure it is not Remy. Although some factories remove these too.

Which colour should I choose?

Choose the colour that matches your hair from the mid-lengths to the ends, not the roots, which are always darker. If you have doubts, send us a photo in natural light on WhatsApp.

How much hair do I need?

It depends on how much volume you want, the size of your head, the method and whether you are going to cut it. It is best to check with a professional.

  • Keratin: at least 100 to 150 strands (about 125 grams).
  • Sewn-in weft: one or two packs (about 100 grams).

You will need more if you are going to wear your hair straight, if you choose a length of more than 55 cm, or if your hair is thick, has very marked layers or is a pixie cut.

Can I wash, brush, blow-dry and curl them?

Of course! You can curl them however you like and wash them whenever you need to, although you will notice they stay clean for days.

  • Always wash them in the same direction, from top to bottom.
  • Use shampoo and conditioner for dry hair.
  • Brush starting from the ends and working up, holding the hair at the top.
  • It is better to let them air-dry: the hairdryer dries them out more.

Can I dye them or get a perm?

It is not recommended. The extensions have already been sterilised and processed, and they do not receive nutrients from the roots: every chemical treatment dries them out and shortens their life. It is better to choose the colour closest to yours from the start.

What products can I use?

Moisturising your extensions is extremely important. Use products for dry hair, alcohol-free or low in alcohol; spray conditioners are perfect for the ends. Do not use products for oily hair or clarifying products, because they leave the hair dry.

Can I go swimming and to the beach?

Of course. Wash your hair right afterwards and apply spray conditioner. Try to keep it away from salt water, because it strips the moisture and the hair tangles. For the beach, it is better to wear your hair loose than braided.

How often do they need maintenance?

Usually, every two months.
