How much does a hair prosthesis cost?: Price VS Value
How much does it cost? How many times have we asked ourselves that question... maybe thousands of times, and today will be no exception, since I want to talk a little about this topic, about how much a hair prosthesis is worth (natural hair Toppers), but I want to divide the article into three parts:
- The price of a hair prosthesis
- The value beyond the financial
- The profitability of a hair prosthesis
Price of a hair prosthesis | Hair Toppers
Without a doubt, the first thing we think about when we are going to buy something is how much it is going to cost us, and we do this with anything in everyday life, although sometimes this is not simple.
Sometimes it is hard to say what the exact price of things is; for example, think of a mobile phone, the exact price will depend on the brand and the features, if you are going to buy shoes, it will depend on the material, whether it is synthetic or leather.
The same goes for the price of hair prostheses. For example, if you opt for a synthetic hair prosthesis, it will undoubtedly be cheaper and if it is human hair, it will be much more expensive.
To the above, you have to add details such as, for example, the process or the way in which the injected or sewn hairs are placed on the base.
Speaking clearly, and this is something you can check yourself, I have looked a lot at prices in different shops and the natural hair toppers that I offer together with (free personalized advice) have prices that are hard to beat.
Let me explain, I offer toppers that range from approximately 380 euros up to 800 euros (the PREMIUM ones) and if you look at other hair prosthesis websites or natural hair toppers, in those price ranges, you may come across certain details such as:
- They are toppers of lower hair quality
- You may see that they do not have as much free area to make the parting as you see in this photo.

Perhaps it has a fixed part and of course if it is cheaper, but it limits you a lot when it comes to making the parting in your hair, among other limitations.
Also, and to cut costs, the way the hairs are placed also has an influence.
A good quality SILK hair topper has areas where the hairs
go between two layers of fabric and this requires much more work than the sewn part, since in the first area, the hairs are injected by hand and this raises the cost, because it gives you many advantages and it looks much more natural once placed.
If you acquire a much cheaper piece, you are going to have certain limitations that can make you hate your hair prosthesis.
That is why I don't want the above to happen with the prostheses I offer, and I can say with confidence that the prices I offer are unbeatable.
I have been selling extensions for 15 years and this is the reason that led me to discover this world of alternative hair, since I couldn't put extensions in.
Having lived for 10 years in Asia, the suppliers from whom we buy the hair for the extensions are literally our friends because they are people I met when they were single, later I went to their weddings, I saw their children being born, so I have a relationship with them that is more than that of a customer, and this is very hard to find anywhere else and helps us offer hair prostheses at unbeatable prices with very high quality.
ASIDE about the price of Toppers
By offering consultations and toppers to women with alopecia or hair loss problems, I have spoken with women by video call and they had very specific needs that I haven't been able to cover well, because their alopecia cannot be covered with a natural hair topper.
Sometimes, the color they need or the material they need, I can't find, but that doesn't mean I don't help them, since I perfectly understand what it feels like to suffer from female alopecia and I try to help them find this type of product on other websites or in other online shops
Does it take up my time? Of course it does, it's true that this is my job, but before being a worker, I am human and I understand the discomfort, the suffering and I will always do what I can to help these women.
I have had alopecia for a long time, I understand what it feels like, I understand the pain.
So, if I can give advice, if I can help in some way to find what you need, I will. Sometimes some girls have asked me where to find combs or clips or anything related to hair, such as hair fibers, some powders they use in the United States so that clips don't move around so much or similar products.
Whatever is in my hands I am going to do, it's not just about getting customers, this is a real condition that I have and that I empathize with the women who are going through it.
Value of hair prostheses
Let's move on to the second point of this article, which is the value of a hair prosthesis, which is not the same as the price, let me explain...
Allow me to use an example: If I have to buy a car, a vehicle to be able to go to work, then it can be said that to a certain extent, it is a work tool and I know I will spend some money, but it covers a need. Now...
That is different from wanting to buy a Mercedes to go out on weekends, since we are talking about buying a car just for luxury and with an idea that is not that the car has greater utility, as in the previous case.
What does this example have to do with hair prostheses?
In the 15 years we have been selling extensions, you would be surprised to see the amount of money many women spend on hair extensions.
They can spend 300 or 400 Euros just on the hair, and then have to go to the hairdresser to have it fitted and every 2 months they have to do maintenance because it has to be re-fitted as the hair grows.
For them, this is an added value, let's say, it's an extra in beauty, since they have hair, so taking the previous example, it's as if they already have a vehicle and they are buying the Mercedes.
We don't have hair, so for those of us who suffer from alopecia, a hair prosthesis is almost a necessity, not an extra.
This is where the value we give it comes into play. Let's say on average the price of a natural hair Topper is about 500 euros / dollars, is that a lot? It may seem so, but think about this..
We spend 100 euros or dollars on a meal or 300 on a weekend trip with your partner or 500 on a phone and yet, to buy a hair prosthesis, we think about it much more, which is why it is necessary to think of another approach...
It's not about thinking about the expense, but rather, whether it is going to meet the need that we so need to cover due to alopecia or hair loss.
In my case, I wish I had known earlier, because right now, I can be in photos and if I have to leave the house right away, I just put on the topper.
If I go out in the street or the postman comes and I have to go out to pick up a package, I no longer feel that embarrassment I had before of having to tie my hair back or I would put on a scarf while I was at home, because if visitors came, I didn't like people seeing me with the hair I have.
Now, I feel prettier, younger, with more confidence in myself and more self-esteem and that for me is added value.
For me, my hair prosthesis is a necessity. Going back to the car example, we're not talking about you buying a Mercedes, we're talking about buying a vehicle that will be able to take you to work, that is, it's not a sunk cost, but rather it meets a need, above all a personal and even emotional one.
For me, that is greater than the financial expense. Feeling better is priceless.
Profitability of a hair prosthesis
Speaking of profitability, it's not the same to spend 100 Euros on a meal that you will enjoy for an hour at most, as to spend the money on a hair prosthesis that is going to last months or even years.
In fact, many women ask me How many months does a hair prosthesis last? How many months does a hair Topper last? and it's something hard to say.
If I tell you how long shoes last me, they will surely last me less than they last you, because I'm a disaster and I don't take care of things, and my mother would be happy that I admit it hehe.
So, since I'm not very careful with my hair prosthesis, I think that has made it last less than it should, and even so they are almost 3 years old.
Imagine if you do like a girl who bought a natural hair Topper and bought another one after a year, to alternate between both. She will use the one that is in better condition for the more special occasions and perhaps leave the other one for going to the mountains or going out at night. That way she will be able to alternate the two and both will give her more time.
So, depending on the care and use we give the hair prosthesis, its profitability will improve. That is why I calculate two years on average, especially with natural hair like mine, I think it's totally possible.
So, let's say the natural hair topper lasts you 18 months, if we buy a topper that costs 400 euros, that comes to a monthly expense of 22.22 dollars or euros.
22 Euros or dollars a month is an expense that of course you could use on something else, on your family, and that surely also comes in very handy, but what I mean is that 22 euros or dollars we sometimes spend on other things. For example...
You will no longer have to go to the hairdresser so frequently for touch-ups, although many of us didn't go. But, there are many women, for example, who touch up their gray hairs every month. Now many of them no longer do, because they wear the natural hair topper and it covers everything.
You no longer spend as much on shampoos to wash your hair. I used to have to wash my hair daily, now I don't, and I wash the piece about once a month or every six weeks.
I don't spend on the hairdresser, because it always has the same cut, it doesn't grow.
And I'm not going to go into depth about how much money we have spent on everything, on special shampoos, on vitamins, on biotin and on home remedies for hair loss or some from the pharmacy that haven't worked.
If, in addition, we talk about women who have used a treatment with a trichologist or a dermatologist and it hasn't worked for them either, many of them have left more than the cost of a hair prosthesis in those treatments.
So, well, if for those 22 euros or dollars a month that I put as an example, I measure the profitability by how it makes me feel, that is, feeling better, being able to appear in the photos where I am with my son, not having the embarrassment I had before, not thinking that they are looking at me and seeing my parting or my bald spot, which is opening up at the back, being able to get rid of hair fibers from dry shampoo etc. To me that makes total sense and has incalculable value.
What do you think of the reflections I've made about the price and value of a hair prosthesis? I hope they have been useful to you. If you are thinking of buying one and need help, don't hesitate to write to me so I can advise you for free.
